Constructed in the 1820’s on the highest part of Cleadon Hills, the windmill was badly damaged during the 1870’s, possibly during this time losing it’s sails, and was a target for gunnery practice during the First World War, the rotating cap and windshaft was removed during the 1920’s, all remains is the shell of the windmill which can be seen for many miles.
